Summer in the Lyngen Alps
After a long winter, the landscape in the Lyngen Alps is changing almost every day. The birch trees are turning green, the streams are filled with snowmelt, and the Midnight Sun stretches the days into endless light. Summer has arrived in Northern Norway.
Anyone visiting Lyngen at this time experiences one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. Nature is bursting into life, while the snow-covered peaks still remind us of the winter that has just passed.
Between Winter and Summer
What makes this season so special is the contrast. Along the fjords, everything is coming to life. Meadows turn green, the first wildflowers appear, and the endless daylight invites you to spend every possible moment outdoors.
At the same time, the higher mountains still wear their white winter coat. On some peaks, it is even possible to enjoy the final ski tours in the Lyngen Alps—provided you are willing to carry your skis for part of the approach. For most visitors, however, the focus has already shifted to summer adventures.
The Season of Endless Days
With the arrival of the Midnight Sun, time seems to lose its meaning. Evening hikes, a coffee on the terrace at midnight, or a spontaneous mountain walk after dinner quickly become part of everyday life.
The soft Arctic light transforms the fjords, mountains and valleys throughout the day, creating a unique atmosphere that can only be experienced north of the Arctic Circle.
Hiking, Exploring and Slowing Down
As the snow retreats, more and more hiking trails around Lyngen become accessible. From easy walks along the fjords to challenging summit hikes with spectacular views of the Lyngen Alps, there is something for every level of hiker.
Yet it is often not the summit that leaves the strongest impression. A remote mountain hut, a crystal-clear alpine lake, the sound of a waterfall or the silence of a hidden valley are the moments that stay with you long after the journey has ended.
With our summer program, you can discover the Lyngen Alps in a truly authentic way. Stay comfortably at the Magic Mountain Lodge, or embrace the Norwegian spirit of friluftsliv by spending a night under the Arctic sky with nothing more than a tent and a sleeping bag.
Summer Has Arrived
Now begins the season of hiking, endless evenings outdoors and countless small adventures that make an Arctic summer so unforgettable.
The mountains remain the same, yet their character changes completely with each season. That is what makes the Lyngen Alps such a special destination throughout the year.
Winter is slowly saying goodbye, summer is taking over, and I look forward to sharing many new adventures with my guests in the months ahead.
