Ski touring in the Lyngen Alps - winter adventure between fjord, summit and arctic expanse
The Lyngen Alps in the north of Norway are one of the most impressive ski touring areas in Europe. Located north of the Arctic Circle, the mountains rise directly from the sea and form a unique winter landscape of fjords, peaks, glaciers and wide snow slopes. Ski touring in Lyngen means movement in an open, quiet and at the same time powerful nature - far away from overcrowded areas and fixed routes.
Winter characterises the region in a special way. The arctic light, the proximity to the sea and the maritime climate create snow conditions that differ significantly from classic alpine regions. It is precisely this mixture that makes ski touring in the Lyngen Alps so varied and intense.

As a mountain and ski guide, I open up paths into the alpine world beyond the everyday.
My greatest passion is ski touring in the Arctic regions of northern Norway. I accompany my guests with the experience of countless months that I have already spent here, calmness and enthusiasm.
This is how we master safe ascents and descents, experience fulfilling summit moments and create lasting impressions and memories.

Lyngen Alps, Lofoten & Senja
Ski tours in Norway
The Lyngen Alps are my main area and my second home in the far north. I also regularly lead ski tours in Lofoten, Senja and Finnmark. Each of these regions represents a different facet of ski touring in northern Norway, but they all combine sea and mountains in a unique way.
Typical of ski touring in northern Norway is that the peaks rise directly out of the fjords and open up wide views over the sea, islands and Arctic landscape. Here, alpine lines meet open horizons, silence meets vastness and movement meets a nature characterised by clarity and originality.
I've been fascinated by the ski tours on the Lyngen peninsula for 15 years now - and every year the ski tour weeks in the far north of Norway are an absolute highlight.
Just imagine: The first morning dawns, the light of the north colours the sky in pastel shades. Fresh snow crunches under your skis. The peaks of the Lyngen Alps rise up in front of you, the sea glistens behind you. No lift, no tracks - just silence, vastness and the call of the mountains.
Every year we are drawn to the Lofoten Islands in spring - and every time we are amazed by the scenic beauty. This group of islands far north of the Arctic Circle uniquely combines rugged mountain peaks, deep blue fjords and the endless light of the north.
The island of Senja is located around 3 hours' drive south of Tromsö and therefore right between the two best-known ski touring regions in Norway, Lyngen and Lofoten.
You should fulfil these requirements in order to have fun
During the ski touring weeks, I adapt the difficulty of the descents and tours to the requirements and ability of the group. A confident parallel turn in different types of snow and fluent skiing in terrain with a gradient of up to 35 degrees are, however, essential to really enjoy the tours.
We cover an average ascent of 1000 metres, which takes us around 3 hours.
