Lofoten, Norway
Every spring, I return to the Lofoten Islands for ski touring. Although I know the region well by now, its spectacular scenery never fails to impress me. Jagged peaks rise straight from the sea, deep blue fjords carve their way between the islands, and the clear Arctic light creates an atmosphere unlike anywhere else. This unique combination of mountains and ocean is what makes the Lofoten Islands one of Norway's most iconic and unforgettable ski touring destinations.
Here, our ski tours lead across wide-open spring snow slopes, through steeper couloirs and up to summits that seem to rise straight out of the sea. At the top, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of jagged peaks, snow-covered mountains, deep blue fjords and the open Norwegian Sea. This unique combination of alpine terrain and a dramatic coastal landscape is what makes ski touring in the Lofoten Islands such an unforgettable experience.
The variety of ski tours in the Lofoten Islands is remarkable. From enjoyable summit tours with long panoramic descents to more challenging alpine objectives, there is something for every experienced ski tourer. With so many routes to choose from, we can adapt our plans each day to the weather, snow and avalanche conditions, ensuring we make the most of the best available skiing.
Our base is in the picturesque fishing village of Henningsvær, one of the most beautiful places in the Lofoten Islands. From here, most ski tours are just a 10 to 45-minute drive away. After a rewarding day in the mountains, there's plenty of time to wander through Henningsvær's charming streets or visit nearby Svolvær. And with a little luck, the Northern Lights may appear in the evening, providing the perfect ending to an unforgettable day of ski touring in the Lofoten Islands.

My Favourite Place to Stay in the Lofoten Islands
Trevarefabrikken in Henningsvær
During our ski touring week in the Lofoten Islands, we stay at Trevarefabrikken in Henningsvær—a beautifully restored former fish-processing factory that has been transformed into a unique boutique hotel and cultural venue. Large industrial windows, original timber details and contemporary Scandinavian design give the building its distinctive character. Each individually designed room combines comfort, history and beautiful views of the surrounding sea.
The hotel's café, restaurant and bar are popular gathering places for both guests and locals, serving regional cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. After a day in the mountains, you can unwind in the sauna or the sea-view yoga room—the perfect way to end an unforgettable day of ski touring in the Lofoten Islands.
At the same time, I want you to feel completely at home during your stay. I'm happy to tailor the trip to your preferences. If you would rather stay in a private apartment or choose a different hotel in the Lofoten Islands, I'll be glad to help you find the accommodation that suits you best.

A confident parallel turn in a variety of snow conditions, the ability to ski comfortably in off-piste terrain up to around 35 degrees, and solid experience using ski touring equipment—including climbing skins, ski crampons and avalanche safety gear (transceiver, shovel and probe)—are essential. Most ski tours in the Lofoten Islands involve between 800 and 1,200 metres of ascent.
For private bookings and custom groups, I'm happy to tailor the choice of tours, difficulty, pace and group size to match your experience, fitness level and personal preferences.
