Arctic Winter in the Lyngen Alps

We will pick you up in Tromsø in the afternoon and travel together through the spectacular fjord landscapes of Northern Norway to the Lyngen Alps. Even the drive itself is part of the experience, offering your first glimpse of snow-covered mountains, deep fjords, and charming coastal villages.

After checking into the cozy Magic Mountain Lodge and enjoying a shared dinner, you'll have time to settle in, relax, and prepare for the days ahead.

If weather conditions are favourable and the skies are clear, we'll head out for our first Northern Lights experience. Often, a short walk into the darkness is all it takes to witness the magical Aurora Borealis dancing above the Lyngen Alps – an unforgettable start to your Arctic winter adventure.

After a hearty breakfast, one of the highlights of the Arctic winter awaits: a husky sledding adventure with the experienced guides from Team Lyngen. Together with the eager huskies, you'll glide through the snow-covered landscape and experience the breathtaking scenery of the Lyngen Alps from a truly unique perspective.

In the late afternoon, we'll return to the lodge for a light snack before putting on our snowshoes. At a relaxed pace, we'll hike for about 1.5 to 2 hours to the Skihytta above Lyngseidet. The trail is technically easy and rewards us with stunning views of the snow-covered mountains and the surrounding fjords.

At the cozy mountain cabin, we'll light the wood-burning stove, enjoy warm drinks and light refreshments, and soak up the peaceful atmosphere of the Arctic night. With a little luck and clear skies, the Aurora Borealis will appear above us, painting the sky in shades of green, purple, and red – an unforgettable natural spectacle best experienced far away from artificial lights.

After breakfast, we'll visit a traditional reindeer farm, where you'll gain fascinating insights into the lives of the reindeer and the culture of the Sámi, the Indigenous people of Northern Norway. You'll have the opportunity to get close to these remarkable animals and learn about their importance in Arctic life and traditions.

We then continue to the Aurora Spirit Distillery, the world's northernmost whisky distillery. During a guided tour, you'll discover how premium spirits are crafted under the unique conditions of the Arctic. Of course, the visit also includes a tasting of selected local spirits.

After a light snack at the lodge, we'll head out once again on snowshoes as darkness falls. Our destination is Verdens Ende, a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the fjord. There, we'll gather around a campfire, enjoy warm drinks and light refreshments, and spend a memorable evening beneath the Arctic sky. With a little luck, the Northern Lights will dance above the mountains, providing a magical finale to our winter adventure.

After a relaxed breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to the Lyngen Alps. Together, we'll make our way back to Tromsø, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of the past few days.

You'll leave with lasting memories of the Arctic winter – snow-covered landscapes, husky adventures, reindeer encounters, cozy evenings around the campfire, and, with a little luck, the magical spectacle of the Northern Lights dancing across the sky.

We expect to arrive in Tromsø in the late morning or around midday, leaving you plenty of time for your onward journey.
