Lyngen, Norway
The Lyngen Alps are one of Norway's premier destinations for ski touring. Towering peaks, deep fjords and an exceptional variety of routes make this Arctic mountain range the perfect place for unforgettable ski touring adventures in Northern Norway.
Around 15 years ago, I discovered the Lyngen Alps for the first time. What started as a fascination with one of Norway's most spectacular ski touring destinations has grown into a deep personal connection. Today, Lyngseidet is my second home, and I spend several months here every year. Living in the region allows me to experience the mountains not only as an IFMGA Mountain & Ski Guide, but also as a local throughout every season and in all kinds of weather and snow conditions.
For me, the Lyngen Alps are among the finest places for ski touring in Northern Norway. Around the Lyngenfjord, you'll find an incredible variety of terrain—from wide powder slopes and gentle summit tours to steeper couloirs and glacier-covered peaks with a true alpine character. The combination of snow-covered mountains rising directly above deep blue fjords creates an unforgettable Arctic skiing experience.
One of the greatest strengths of the Lyngen Alps is their diversity. There are enough tour options for weeks of exploration, and every day I can choose the route that offers the best conditions based on the latest weather, snow and avalanche forecasts.
Because I spend so much time in Lyngen, I am in regular contact with local mountain guides and the people who live here. Weather, snow conditions and recent observations are part of our daily conversations. This local knowledge plays an important role in my tour planning and helps me select the best possible destination for every group.
Our base is the Magic Mountain Lodge in Lyngseidet, ideally located in the heart of the Lyngen Alps. Most trailheads can be reached within just 5 to 60 minutes, while others are easily accessed by ferry. This central location gives us the flexibility to find outstanding ski touring conditions throughout the week, even when the weather changes.

A confident parallel turn in a variety of snow conditions, the ability to ski comfortably in off-piste terrain up to around 35 degrees, and solid experience using ski touring equipment, including climbing skins, ski crampons and avalanche safety gear (transceiver, shovel and probe), are essential.
Most of our ski tours involve around 1,000 metres of ascent, with a few days reaching up to 1,500 metres. At a relaxed pace, the ascent typically takes about three hours.
For private bookings and custom groups, I'm happy to tailor the choice of tours, difficulty, pace and group size to match your experience, fitness level and personal preferences.
